Solo Exhibition by artist LiLi Nacht at Studio 35 Berlin

In Another Place, From Another Time

September 27-29, 2024
At Studio 35, Berlin

𝑰𝒏 𝑨𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆, 𝑭𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑨𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒆 explores themes of non-linear time, water as the medium of transition, and learning to live with dissonance. In a world where heightened discord is unavoidable, this exhibition asks what it means to have a voice today. How do we learn to listen with our entire beings? In the release, what leaves and what endures?

In this solo exhibition by LiLi 丽丽Nacht, the paintings and drawings reflect a narrative that is not just personal but also global. Created over many years, some of these works were started, left alone for a time, and then completed later—their image and meaning evolving alongside the rapidly shifting global environment.

The opening night features performance activations engaging these questions and a participatory altar, offering audience members a space for reflection, connection, and healing.

Thunder in the Middle of the Lake
performed by LiLi Nacht

This piece draws inspiration from Chinese mythology and the friction between Yin and Yang which results in thunder. These natural cycles of tension and release mirror the emotional and ethical frictions we experience in our own lives. Central is also the story of Lei Gong, the God of Thunder, and Dian Mu, the Goddess of Lightning. Dian Mu, killed unjustly by Lei Gong and later resurrected to aid him in his divine duties, raises questions about the burden of responsibility and the reconciliation of guilt.
